To design your program we first work together on an assessment to clarify your goals and what you would like to accomplish. We use that information and combine it with other factors like event duration & location, participant ages & ability levels, number of participants, etc. to choose activities and design a program that would best fulfill your needs.
Our programs our based on an experiential learning format, where you learn by doing. We use the River trip and other activities as a practice field where you can practice your team skills and learn from your successes and mistakes.
Adventure based team building is very effective for several reasons:
1. People are taken out of their normal comfort zone. This greatly facilitates the change and growth process.
2. Being in a unique and beautiful setting helps anchor in the learning.
3. Through the process of debriefing and transference of learning, we help you apply the lessons you learned to your work or home situation.
Our Delaware River program consists of:
Introduction: Where we set the tone, lay out the working rules for the day, and focus on what you would like to accomplish.
Ice breaking activities: These help to prepare the participants mentally and physically for the change process.
Trust building progression: A series of activities designed to build greater trust within the group. This provides a strong base for further group development.
Problem solving initiatives: Games and activities that give you the chance to practice and develop your team skills. We debrief and process these to better extract the learning. These can be done before and during the rafting.
The river trip: A powerful metaphor on what it takes to get an organization to its destination. You must work together or the boat will not go where you want it to.
Final debrief: A way to reinforce what you learned that day and how you can use it.
Group closure: Brings closure to the day and that segment of the group development process. Success is a journey, not a destination.
