Lars Hawley was raised next to the Appalachian Trail in
Sussex County, New Jersey. Here he developed
his knowledge of the outdoors and related
adventure activities. Combine this knowledge with a
love of teaching, a B.S. in Management and the ability
to bring about rapid positive change in others and you have
the beginnings of Active Learning Programs, a company that
specializes in the fields of group and personal
development.
Lars got his start in the field of
Experiential Education in 1991, as a ropes course
facilitator at Stony Acres Ropes Course, a leader in the
field. From here he branched out working for many different
companies and organizations as a freelance facilitator,
ropes course trainer, experiential educator and motivational
speaker/trainer. This allowed him to work with some of the
top talent in the industry, develop and hone his
facilitation skills, and build an awesome assortment of
tools and activities for the development of groups
and individuals. Through the years he has worked with
hundreds of groups ranging from Fortune 500 Companies to
Youth At Risk, has been a member of the Association for
Experiential Education, and has spent years studying the
fields of group and personal development.
Behind every successful organization there is a
great team! This goes for ALP as well. Our staff of
professionally trained facilitators has an average of 10
years experience in the field. They are all college educated
and many have completed masters and doctoral
degrees. They are an exceptional group of people that are
